Especially for slope reinforcement, and protection against rock slides and avalanches in especially vulnerable sections of road in the mountain regions.

The most natural form of avalanche protector is the mountain forest. It is not found, however, on every hillside and ceases starting at a particular height (approx. 1800 metres). Avalanche control structures then take over this task.

An avalanche protector guides an avalanche away from a road or railroad track. These protectors also make safe driving with a car possible, even during very snowy winters.
